Stand Up to Oil Coalition, Rally on Capitol Steps & Lunch
May 11, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Over 1 Million Comments!
Join WPSR and the Stand Up to Oil coalition on May 11, 2017, when we deliver over 1,000,000 actions to Governor Inslee at the Capitol Building in Olympia.
The movement to protect our region from dirty fossil fuel exports has generated over one million actions. That’s right, over 1,000,000 comments and petitions have rolled in to defeat Big Coal and Dirty Oil and to call on our region to transition towards clean energy.
Critical decisions on the region’s largest proposals — the Tesoro’s oil terminal in Vancouver and the Millennium coal export project in Longview — are coming soon and Governor Inslee and his state agencies can deny authorizations for these dangerous and dirty projects. Decision makers need to hear from you!
What: Rally, press event, and delivery of over 1,000,000 actions against dirty fossil fuels at the State Capitol Building!
When: Thursday, May 11, 2017, Rally and press event: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm; Lunch, socializing and campaign updates to follow: 12:00 – 1:30 pm
Where: Rally and press event on the Capitol steps; lunch at The United Churches of Olympia, 110 11th Ave SE, Olympia.
RSVP: The coalition will treat everyone who RSVPs to lunch! Plus, you can sign up for a spot in a van from Vancouver or Seattle.
Bonus! Be part of a video launch party celebrating your success protecting Pacific Northwest communities from coal and oil! SUTO will launch the video at the rally and you’ll be the first to see it.
We need bold and responsive leadership from Governor Inslee and our state agencies to deny permits for coal export and oil-by-rail. The faster they block dirty fossil fuel export projects, the faster our region can pivot to clean energy solutions to the climate crisis.
You’re part of a powerful movement that is standing up to dirty fossil fuels. Be proud of all you’ve accomplished and join the rally, press event and celebration on May 11th in Olympia!
Thank you for protecting our communities and our climate.
